Redeemer Lutheran School has been part of the Austin community since 1954. We provide a family atmosphere for our students and prepare them for the future. The school is accredited through Lutheran School Accreditation Commission and National Lutheran School Accreditation Commission.
As an accredited school, our curriculum contains the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills. Our students are well-prepared for subsequent schooling. We received the following message from Accelerated Reading: “According to your Accelerated Reader Real Time data, your students using AR read an average of 499,459 words each, and have taken an average of 28 quizzes each, making your school stand out on a national level for its impressive achievement in student reading practice.” Redeemer participates annually in the PSIA (Private School Interscholastic Association) competition and has sent as many as 31 students to that competition. Our elementary students have PE classes daily, and Spanish is taught in all grades.
The Redeemer family cares about others. Our gardens provide the fresh herbs for the Meals on Wheels Program of Austin. The middle school students deliver Meals-on-Wheels weekly. Our children make presentations at Nursing Homes and our weekly chapel offerings have gone to sponsor a variety of needs in the Austin and World communities. Our 6th grade classes incorporate a service project into their 3-day field trip to Houston.
Redeemer participates in competitive athletics in grades 5-8 in the Austin Inter-Parochial League. We compete with other large private schools in the Austin area in basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football and track & field. Our middle school also participates in State Tournaments in basketball and volleyball. We also have intramural sports for grades 4-5.

Our elementary school trains children in the Kodaly method using Orff instrumentation to develop their musical abilities. Our choirs regularly complement worship services at Redeemer Lutheran Church and annually compete in State choral competitions. Band is offered to 4th-8th grade through an independent director who combines our students with bands from several other private schools for concerts and competitions.
We recognize the importance of play in the lives of children. We have three State-of-the-Art playgrounds, which offer challenging and creative play areas for our students. Redeemer Lutheran School has been involved in an ongoing 32 year play research program with The University of Texas. Thirty-three Doctoral dissertations have been written based on research done on our playgrounds.
Our drama program offers students a wide range of performance experiences through pantomime, script work, and improvisation to help them achieve personal confidence and success. Our music and drama coaches collaborate to present an elaborate Broadway musical production each fall. In the spring, students compete in several dramatic forums, such as Modern Oratory, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Impromptu Speaking, and One Act Play, for which several of our students have won state recognition and state championships.
Our Spanish program from 2-year-olds through 4th grade offers a fun way to learn, not only Spanish, but American Sign Language through songs and activities. Fifth through 8th grades begin a more formal curriculum, culminating in all students receiving a high school credit before they leave middle school.
Our students take field trips to enrich their educational experience. Middle school students take trips to Houston, Big Bend National Park, and St. Louis. Our middle school students have the opportunity to be involved in Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society.
