THE HOLISTIC APPROACH
Redeemer Lutheran School provides an affordable, quality education while developing and nurturing the whole child - Spiritually, Intellectually, Physically, Emotionally, and Socially, and in a Christ-centered environment where faith is shared.
We open the day with the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Christian Flags, followed by an opening prayer with the needs of our families, our nation, and our world lifted up to God. In each of our classrooms, we have religion as part of every day curriculum. Who we are and Who we are is not limited to “religion” classes, but permeates all of our subjects, thereby preparing our children for their future world—spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.
As part of a routine, in the early grades, our children learn basic Bible stories and learn to retell them. Students begin to recognize sin, forgiveness, and the love of Jesus. They continue to be reassured that Jesus loves them dearly as His precious children providing a belongingness and confidence. Their behavior should gradually begin to respond to their love for God, and wanting to be Christians in this world. As children get older, when self-esteem and peer pressure challenges arise, our hope is that our children will begin to recognize it is Who you are that determines your worth. Our Heavenly Father has unconditional love for them.
Our chapel services on Wednesdays give us the chance to worship God together as a family. We have three age-appropriate chapel services geared toward each of our divisions: pre-school, elementary school and middle school. Once a month our students from K-8 worship together as a family with chapel buddies from different grades sitting together. Our classes also have the opportunity to lead chapel services. Music is a big part of our worship services. Parents are always welcome to come and worship with us.
Redeemer Lutheran School, belonging to The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
, is part of the largest Protestant school system in the nation. From its beginning in the sixteenth century, Lutheranism inseparably linked the church and education. When we seek teachers for our school, we ask them to articulate their walk in faith. Our goal is not only to find excellent teachers, but teachers closely connected to their Lord and Savior.
We believe that God’s Word is the basis of all theological knowledge. This tenet of our faith is the fundamental truth of Sola Scriptura or Scripture Alone. We want the children in our school to embrace the truths that are found in the Bible. We believe the focus of the entire Bible is Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who lived on earth with real people, living in an actual time in history.
The Lutheran doctrine of Justification is that sinners are saved by God’s grace alone (sola gratia), through faith alone (sola fide), for the sake of Christ alone (Solus Christus). Yes, we are all sinners: children, parents, teachers, administrators, pastors, and everyone else. God loves us so much that He washes away our sins through the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. We will share in His resurrection, thanks to His love and grace.
Intellect and Intelligence are different. However, each is equally important. While intellect is the God given gift that allows for children to learn information, intelligence is the embodiment of what they have learned. Redeemer Lutheran School provides an accelerated curriculum within an enriched environment for hands-on learning as well as real-world application. Our techniques for learning allow for each child's learning style to be touched.
Physical Fitness programs are age appropriate. From the twice per day recesses plus Gym-time (P.E.) in Kindergarten to a Full Athletics program in Middle School offering sports such as Flag Football (boys), Volleyball (girls), Basketball, plus more, Redeemer Lutheran kids have a wonderful opportunity to build physically!
EMOTIONALLY & SOCIALLY
It seems that there is always a fun social gathering going on at the school for the children to participate in so to build upon their social skills although it's balanced in a calm and loving atmosphere that provides for emotional and moral maturity.
